Where’s GC?
For the record, I certainly would not want his job if it involves dealing with the community.
I am, of course referring to the Lead Systems Designer for World of Warcraft, mister Ghostcrawler himself.
GC is the type of guys whom you either love or hate… there’s very little in between. On the one hand, you have the masses of people who (let’s be very honest) like to complain, and see him as their go-to guy for such attacks (more often the type which revolves around their class needing buffs or another needing nerfs). On the other hand, you have a lot of people who appreciate being able to feel as though they are able to discuss the actual game mechanics with someone who actually has the power to effectuate change.
Unfortunately, those who like to complain tend to speak a lot louder, and though GC states this is not why he is taking a breather from the forums, one has to wonder.
I always said that when my posting was doing more harm than good that maybe it was time to stop. I think I’ll at least chill it out a little. I will continue to read the forums though. If you want to make sure the WoW developer see your feedback, this is still a good place to post.
This was posted on the 26th, in reply to a thread entitled; “I don’t see why you all hate Ghostcrawler”.
That’s not likely to draw the trolls now, is it?
By the seventh page, GC posted this in reply and though he posted a couple more replies afterward, I firmly believe he will remain a lot more hidden from the forums. This isn’t the first time we’ve seen WoW forum admins crash, burn and leave one hell of a crater. Not to imply this was a crash and burn, though. Actually, GC handled himself very well (as I’d expect).
Personally, I’d have told them all to STFU and just leave me alone. There’s only so much nagging a person can take (and I’ve been married a long bloody time… of this I know).
(Just kidding, hon. Seriously.)
All of the annoying trolls will feel vindicated, that they got rid of yet another blue… however I think that Hunkrump said it best;
This is why we can’t ever have nice things.
Cause every time we do, someone breaks it.
